Buying a ute, van or truck for your business? See our page on commercial vehicle finance.

The tax treatment differs between structures, so check the GST and depreciation side with your accountant. We'll set out the repayments for each so you can compare.

Balloon payments

A balloon is a lump sum at the end of the loan that lowers your regular repayments. It can help cash flow, but you'll need to pay it, refinance it or trade the asset in at the end. We'll show you repayments with and without one.

New, used, dealer or private sale

We finance new and used vehicles and equipment from dealers, private sellers and auctions. Lenders set limits on the asset's age at the end of the term, and older assets can mean a shorter term or a higher rate. For private sales, the lender checks that nothing is owing on the asset before paying the seller directly.

Low-doc for ABN holders

If you've held an ABN for two years or more, many lenders can approve finance on a low-doc basis using your ABN and GST history, and sometimes bank statements, instead of full tax returns. Newer businesses still have options, often with a deposit or a property owner on the application.

  3. Send your documents and the dealer invoice or seller details.
  4. Once approved, you sign electronically and we pay the dealer or seller directly.

Asset finance FAQs

Can I finance a ute, van or truck for my business?

Yes. Utes, vans, light and heavy trucks, trailers and prime movers are among the most common assets we finance.

Can I claim GST on a vehicle bought under a chattel mortgage?

GST-registered businesses can often claim the GST on the purchase price in their next BAS. Your accountant can confirm how it applies to you.

What can I finance besides vehicles?

Yellow goods and earthmoving gear, farm machinery, medical and dental equipment, IT, fit-outs, boats and motorbikes. If it has a resale value, ask us.

How old can the asset be?

It depends on the lender and the asset. Many cap a vehicle's age at around 15 to 20 years by the end of the loan, and machinery limits vary.

What does it cost to use a broker?

We may charge a broker fee, and we receive commission from the lender. Both are set out in your quote and our Credit Guide before you go ahead.
